Medium and low head cooling pump What potential safety hazards may exist during operation?

Publish Time: 2024-10-09
1. Mechanical failure

Mechanical parts of medium and low head cooling pump may fail during operation, which may bring safety hazards. First, the impeller of the pump rotates at high speed. If the impeller breaks due to manufacturing defects, long-term wear or impact by foreign objects, the broken impeller fragments may fly out at high speed, causing serious damage to the surrounding personnel and equipment. Secondly, the pump shaft may suffer fatigue fracture after long-term operation, which will cause the entire impeller to lose power transmission, and the coolant inside the pump body will instantly lose its normal flow power, triggering a series of chain reactions, such as coolant leakage, motor overload, etc. In addition, if the pump bearing lacks lubrication or is subjected to excessive radial and axial forces, it will wear excessively, which will cause the vibration of the pump body to increase, which will not only affect the normal operation of the pump, but also may loosen the connecting parts, and finally cause damage to the entire pump body structure.

2. Electrical problems

Electrical aspects are also the source of safety hazards during the operation of medium and low head cooling pump. As the power source of the pump, if the insulation performance of the motor decreases, leakage may occur, which poses a direct threat to the life safety of the operator. Especially in a humid working environment, the risk of leakage will increase further. In addition, during the start and stop process of the motor, a large current shock may be generated. If the electrical protection system is not perfect, the winding inside the motor may be damaged, and even an electrical fire may be caused. At the same time, during long-term operation, problems such as aging of electrical circuits and loose joints may also cause circuit short circuits, affecting the normal operation of the cooling pump and bringing electrical safety risks.

3. Coolant leakage related

Coolant leakage is a safety hazard that cannot be ignored during the operation of the Medium and low head cooling pump. If the sealing structure of the pump body (such as mechanical seals or packing seals) fails, the coolant will leak. On the one hand, coolant leakage may make the ground around the pump slippery, increasing the risk of slipping and falling; on the other hand, if the coolant is corrosive and leaks to the surrounding equipment, pipelines or infrastructure, it will cause corrosion damage to them and affect the stability of the entire cooling system. Moreover, in some workplaces with strict requirements on humidity, coolant leakage may also affect the normal operation of other equipment, such as short circuits in electrical control cabinets due to moisture.

4. Operating conditions and human factors

Changes in operating conditions and human factors may also lead to safety hazards. For example, when the cooling pump is running in a cavitation state, strong vibration and noise will be generated inside the pump body, which will not only accelerate the damage of the pump body and impeller, but also may cause resonance of the pipeline system, leading to pipeline rupture, loose connection parts, etc. From the perspective of human factors, if the operator does not operate according to the operating procedures, such as repairing the pump body without turning off the power, or adjusting the valve incorrectly during the operation of the pump, it may lead to dangerous situations.
